Start Of Career

Zendaya, which means "to give thanks" in Shona, was born September 1, 1996 in Oakland, California. It was created in part from California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California where her mother worked as a Store Manager. In addition to training at the theater's winter program of student and later performing in many stage productions, Zendaya helped patrons seat of his mother and sell raffle tickets to benefit the theater.

While attending Oakland School for the Arts, she starred as a young Ti Moune in a theater, working as a pilot. She also studied her craft in the program CalShakes Conservatory and the American Conservatory Theater. His theater credits include Richard III, Twelfth Night, and As You Like It, among other shows. Currently, Zendaya lives in Los Angeles with her mother.
